Re: Your Car Weighs 4,000 lbs
When you jack a car up, you don't place the jack in the center of the car and raise it all at once
I believe that if you look at the specs on your tires, they will be max rated for ~1400 pounds each. Oh no! Your car weighs 4000 pounds! Eiii!! heh.

ASME: Capacity Needs to be 4,000LB at Least
Just a friendly note:
Any primary lifting device must be rated at least to total GVW (per ASME)
This is a minimum requirement for service shop insurance
When you lift a corner of a car, most of the total vehicle load is seen by the jack
Issue is not the jack hydraulic ram load capacity; it is the structural capacity of the jack frame; particularly vs shear loads. ****ty floor jacks collapse sideways.
Most reputable (US) jack mfg's build in lots of reserve (at least twice rated capacity) for frame rigidity.
I wouldn't trust anything from Harbor Freight; some of their stuff is OK; alot is just Chinese junk.
This is OK with a HF vice or crowbar - throw it away if it is junk; not OK if you're going to trust your life top something like an HF floor jack.
BTW, if the max load capacity of your A8 tires was 1400 lbs, you would have an instant blow out the first time you turned a corner at 35MPH or more. Suggest you look at Tire Rack or something for an interpretation of side wall ratings.

Bless yo' Heart: Here is what tire sidewall rating means:
1,400 lbs is maximum NVW CURB weight. (It has little to do with maximum loading, which can easily exceed 6,000 lbs in daily driving). Math is easy; F=MV.
Your A8 can put 10,000 lbs+ on a (front especially) tire without working up a sweat.
So this A8 tire (1,400 lb curb wt rating) should not be used on a vehicle weighing over 5,600 lbs GVW, static curb weight. Go to SAE.com if you are interested in the math calculations of load ratings.
Back to the jack: it will probably be OK; just put a jackstand in place BEFORE jacking. This jack could collapse sideways undere an A8 if 3,000 lbs is the actual mechanical capacity of the jack frame.
