on dash wold come on every time I would accelerate hard. Looked under the hood last night and the break fluid level was on the min mark. put more fluid in and problem went away. However, where did the fluid go that I needed more.

Could be normal wear on the brakes, could be small leak. Most likely the fluid wasn't...
topped off at the last pad replacement, and as the pads wear more fluid is displaced into the four brake caliper cylinders. I would top it off and keep an eye on it. One word of warning however is that when you replace the pads next time the reservoir may overflow- so remove some of the fluid with a turkey baster (that's what I use anyway) before compressing the caliper cylinders.

Agree with all, plus ...
I recommend bleeding all four corners every time and before the brake pads are replaced. This prevents the old overheated grungy fluid that's sitting in the calipers from being pushed back up into the master cylinder. Also, you're almost guaranteed to remove an air bubble or two and firm up the brake pedal. The only caveat is that you need to top off the brake fluid before you start to avoid running the reservoir dry.
