Default Car Wash Confusion

Hey guys having a problem with my baby every time i take her for a wash.

i usually get a manual car wash done but no sooner do i leave the place that she sharts jerking and gasping for air.

I can floor the accelerator and the RPM will rise slowly and fall and then rise again .. and the cycle will continue all the while the engine will continue sputtering like its swallowed water.

i usually cover the intake hole (behind the grille) with a plastic sheet before the wash.

When i check with VAG after a wash it get all sort of error codes

VAG-COM Version: Release 311.2-N

I do have a small tear in the center muffler and no water is sprayed in the engine compartment.

and this happens quite often but not after every wash but only after a wash.

ideas?

Default What about the black box of Electronic control modules?

Have you opened that to look for any moisture or water marks. The gasket on that thing is ****e and each time someone sprays water with a pressure washer on bottom of the driver's side windshield you are more than likely to get water in there. There are also conectors in there that when wet start causing these probs. Worth a check.

Your drains are clogged and there is water in your ECU.

Default Paul has a procedure on Audipages to clear the drains with compressed air

But I think the best way is to run a snake through there, that's what the shop did and I haven't had any problems since then.
