Hi,

I noticed that the CAT light would turn on if I turn the key to 'On' position. It would go off if I start the engine.

The engine is not misfiring (obviously it has nothing to do with the engine because the CAT light is off when the engine starts.

What is likely the problem here?

Correct...any trouble lights that come on with the ignition switch in "on" position (just like most all cars) is just the 1st half of a system/bulb check...the second half of the test, is that they all turn off once the engine is started.

If the cat light does not come on at 1st, the bulb is likely burned out and in need of replacement.
