just finished watching the vidoe of me autocrossing in the Audi boy I need more practice.
It was an SCCA event this past weekend. It was a tight course that the neons and miata's ruled. I was 10 seconds off the fastest neon out there however my times were aout the same as the other big cars. Thought that was pretty good until I watched the video. NO grace, not smooth at all and was really bad with the brake and gas. This is an easy car to drive on the track but it a lot more challening on a tight course. Looks like I be practicing a lot over the summer.

Smooth is the word
Brent-
When I went to Road America....I thought I was hustling my A8 around the course pretty darn well until my instructor informed me otherwise.....
When I was at Grattan last year, once I got signed off, I was pushing the car on the back set of corners right before the toliet bowl and through the toliet bowl and not driving the straight after that correct.
My tires were SQUEALING all over the place and I was just plain pushing it around the track.
My instructor at Road America showed me how to concentrate on using all of the track (tracking out as far as possible on every corner) and not squeal my tires, but achieve better lap times.
I really worked on that again last month at Gingerman, and on the front of the track, I was pretty much the same speed as others....on the back of the track which is set up for small cars, they would leave me....but I would catch up with them again on the front.....
The difference between me and other much higher power cars of similar size: my tires weren't squealing, their's were. I know I felt like I was in complete control the whole two days, and never had an off track excursion. Speed will come with time.
What course were you at this weekend? This was an Autocross? I have done a few, and it's hard to be smooth at those events.

Midland Michigan Barstow airport. Vey tight course lots of boxes to get through last run was pretty
smooth. The problem with these events is that you only get 4 runs in the 10 hours that I was there. so when you just get the hang of it your are done.
