I looked through the owners manual and cannot find this indicator. In the indicator where the OK comes up, I see an intermitten image.

It is an oil can (similar to the one that would come up in the middle if the oil pressure were low). It is the same shape as the big flashing warning red light but underneath it reads "sensor".

No apparent problems, no clicking, clacking or knocking that might be related to low oil pressure. This indicator comes and goes.

Any idea what might be causing this?

That's the level sensor.
Have you checked your dipstick recently?
