1999 A8 with 160k and check engine light came on with the p0455 code - Evaporative System Malfunction, Gross Leak. Noticed that some folks are taking about the canister filling up with gas. Come to think of it the car has always had a smell of gas in it for the past year or so but never a fault code like that.

The car is in her final stages of her life, I'm not keen on spending any more cash on her so I'll probably just drive with the problem till I take her to the knackers yard BUT anyone have a quick cheap fix and should I start with the gas cap??
