PaulW did you install your S8 instument cluster
My mechanic says I need to replace mine if I want the brake pad light to go away. I was wondering if I buy a salvage dash if I can program it with the Ross-tech or does the dealer need to do it?
Thanks

Re: My mechanic says I need to replace mine if I want the brake pad light to go away? Huh??
I've twisted the pad wear sensor wires together on both side of the car and the light won't go away. I guess there is no signal coming from the dash.

I have a simple fix.....
....I was sick of my brake pad warning light also......so instead of trying to troubleshoot it.....I just pulled the instrument cluster.....took the wire that leads to the brake pad warning light and cut it.....then jumpered it to the instrument cluster ground wire....presto.....my brake pad warning light will never come on again.
That's all you need to do.

See trace 181? It has a brown/black wire that is located on the 26 pin connector on the back of the instrument cluster......cut it at the cluster and jumper the cluster side into the cluster ground wire which is a big brown wire on one of the other two connectors.....I took a bunch of pictures but never "developed" them.....do you need me to do that?
Your mechanic is wrong, changing the instrument cluster will have no effect on the light....but grounding the correct pin will.

I would so appreciate some pictures!!!!!
The diagram means nothing to me. How hard is removal of the instrument cluster? 18 months I've been looking at the light! Help me out with some pictures and give me your paypal address. I'll buy lunch.
Thanks

Paul, show a picture of the instrument cluster as well with the blue illuminated "needles".
With "needles" I mean the 2 indicators. I had never seen it like that before. Very cool look.
