So this is what happened to my POS.
The main battery cable from the trunk to the engine bay has a junction box on the passenger's side. From the box the cable goes to the starter and the alternator. The connection in the box was almost completely oxidized. Because the alternator couldn't charge the battery due to the BAD connection, it burnt. My buddy had it rebuilt and now everything is back to normal. I am wondering, what's next?
While I was under the car, I found another corroded connection on the fan control box. The fan didn't have 3rd speed. That's why I had over heating problem on my vacation.

I agree.. when i was searching for my headlight issue i found bad wires
I noticed that my fan wires were VERY BRITTLE, all three speeds. I had sanded down the positive junction box a while ago because i saw corosion on them. I ended up replacing the wire from the Starter and Alternator to the back battery with some wire from westmarine. Its Tinned copper so it should hold up to the elements. I replaced the wire with some 4 gauge. I also replaced the ground cable form the engine to the frame with new tinned wire.
I highly suggest that everyone with high mileage cars look at these before its too late. Maybe we should start a checklist to prevent certain issues form happening. I bet that everyone here with over 100k miles probably has a bad belt driven fan clutch.

A check list seems to be in order. That is a great idea. Any pics of the wire location to look at?
I would like to check mine out. I have had my temp jump up a couple notches on a few hot hot days...

I would put money that its not your electric.. its your belt fan..
Try running the engine and holding the fan with a screwdriver to see if it comes to a stop. If it does then you need a new clutch or electric replacment.
