Visit a local reputable performance exhaust shop and ask them for a quote for your car using high flow racing Cats and either DynoMax or Magnaflow Stainless Steel Mufflers (find out where local track racers take their cars, not a chain repair shop) together with SS mandrel bent 3" pipes to the rear. Some of their new products flow 2,000 SCFM and support up to 2,000 horsepower, well beyond our requirements. They reduce weight and have good warranty also. The sound will be as good and reduce weight while getting the exhaust gasses out the back. Pair that with K&N filters up front for better in/out breathing all around...

Hi - just wondering if anyone knows the factory exhaust diameter for a 2004 A8 D3 4.2 V8? i think I read somewhere it was 2.75 inches. Anyone know? Thx

Default REMUS USA Response

We just recently ran out of these A8 systems (again - but more are on the way), so I can't go out to my warehouse and measure an intake. I've sent an inquiry to REMUS, Austria, around this, but they're 9 hours ahead and I may not hear back until tomorrow. But it is very likely the newer S5 4.2L V8 has the same outside diameter, which is 60mm or 2 3/8". If I hear from REMUS, I'll re-post here. I hope this helps.

Default REMUS USA Response II

Yes, received an email response from my contact at REMUS Innovation, Austria. The O.D. of the stock is indeed 60mm
(2 3/8"). By the way, we should be back in stock with these "Sports Label" exhausts by end of August or thereabouts. I hope this helps. Thanks.

Many thanks Duffy. You'll be pleased to hear I've ordered two Remus single pipe rear mufflers from your distributor in Australia and they should be here this week! I posted the question because I'm looking at putting an X-pipe into the system as well. Would you (or others) recommend this and do Remus make one for the A8? Cheers, Jamie
