Awesome. I wonder how old I'll be when I get an R8?

RS7, right car for the midlife crises. Live long and prosper.

I'm way older now than when I first posted here. But hey Bally, we may get really old for that R8 idea. Just checked with my almost unknown name insurance co. since I had other routine policy questions anyway, also overlapping younger male drivers and such. They don't think they can even write a policy for the R8 even w/ good driving records. Too low a volume and too high an original MSRP? Still working on the question. I pointed out to them W12's sold at like 1/10th that volume, and maybe they don't appreciate they are routinely writing $130K plus Atherton Chevy's (aka Tesla's) costing more than a lot of R8's now on the (used) market. Anyway, check insurability, especially in that most expensive insurance state in the country.

I'll figure out insurance as I get ready to make the purchase. A guy around me bought a Ferrari 360 Spyder (one of the last ones so it's 10-11years old but looks like new. He pays $2100.00 a year for insurance with a high deductible for collisions. But, out here most exotics get stored for 5 months. Storage insurance covers zero collision damage during storage months. I would have an R8 insured for all year as it would be out even in the winter, on nice days of course but if I were to take it to say Chicago in the winter and get hit with Lake effect snow, I would have no problem driving her home in the snow.

If necessary, I'll go with liability only coverage to keep the cost down. One speeding ticket and I'll be screwed with collision coverage.

For fun, check out the recently posted "Audi R8 V10 oil change" video on you tube. It will be a bitch without having a lift in our garages. I can imagine the dealers charging at least $6-700.00 around me where the labor rate is $115/hr. I imagine by you it is well over that as the downtown Chicago dealer is like $185.00 or so. So there an oil change is approaching $1k.
