It's like 100F here at Valley Fair, people are all in the mall... now I can really appreciate the ac that works and the dependable A8L

Louis,

I am unclear on your problem being resolved. Did you end up cleaning the pins on the valves? and had it recharged?

I have a 2005 A6 Quatto with similar issue. The symptom is hot air on left side vents with AC on, and it is intermittent. Most times, it works well. But some times, it blows such hot air out of the far left vent, it's best just to turn it off. Very Hot!. My wife said (she thinks) the cold air work again when she pressed the recirculate button. I have not been able to reproduce this.

I had a Lexus with vent issues. Luckily, it was rear ended, and I found my 2005 A6! Love this car. I bought a 2007 A6 for my wife. (doing rear springs was a terrible chore!) .

I'll poke around for those valves tomorrow at least.

Ryan,
Just clean the sticky valves with a chrome cleaner and re grease with fresh grease, very little and you should be fine. Did my sometime last year and i'm beginning to notice the same issue again. I intend working on it next week.
cheers.

The remedy was evacuated and recharged. A8 AC is very finicky about the Freon being low, can't just add Freon, must evacuate to get all out including air and moisture from the system and charge with exact amount 620g or 21oz of Freon.
Cheers,
Louis
