Default MMI Lockup

MMI has been failing - a few small problems, then Northstar died, now system will not respond and screen will not retract. I've tried the restart as in the manual. Car now ready for its 1st service, but not available for at least a week. No radio, nav, etc. Any ideas? Thanks.

Default If Northstar died, sell the Caddy and buy an Audi!

Seriously, 04 or 05? There are enough things wrong with the MMI such that your dealer should have no trouble identifying the culprit and then sending him on the high road out of Dodge!!!! Let us know what happens. With enough re-boots, it may come back(or it may not).

Default I agree--this cable appears to have solved my MMI issues

I had similar problems with my MMI screen going black or refusing to be hard reset as well as flickering and rolling of the information being displayed. The only thing yours is doing differently than mine is not allowing the screen to retract; I don't know if OnStar was ever affected. A temporary fix was to access the back of the screen and move/manipulate the cable--this worked for a few weeks but my dealer had ordered the cable just in case it failed again--it did. With the new cable, the MMI screen has been working very well. The cable is very short and is relatively easy for the service tech to replace without tearing apart the entire dash/console.

BTW, we know you really meant "OnStar"....

You gotta problem with Dodge, buddy? 8^)
Seriously, my company had a Dodge Ram they were almost giving away, so I bought it. It's great for hauling around stuff that won't fit in the A8's huge trunk, but I can't wait to replace it with a Nissan Titan . . .
