PSA from Detroit area: Buyer Beware of Audi A8 at Glassman Auto
I went and saw this (link below) 2005 Audi A8 at Glassman Auto Group and it's a total turd. I was shocked to see how well the pictures portrayed this vehicle because in person it looks nothing like what the pictures had represented. This experience really goes to show you must see the car in person and NOT rely on pictures. The car is missing it's engine under tray, headlights are extremely dull, it was an ex-smokers car (smelled), coolant looked to be original and was nasty, removing the oil cap appears oil hasn't been changed regularly and showed signs of sludge, no records of the timing belt ever being changed (original belt), every single wheel has curb rash, and tires need replacing. I didn't go over the car too detailed because the moment I saw it, I knew I didn't want it and didn't want to waste anymore time on it. In my opinion the condition of this car represented one that would of had close to 200k miles and not 100k. It appears the car has had a rough life.

Similar experience
I went to Barrett Jackson a few weeks ago and was shocked at the lower dollar ($20k under) cars. Lots of dusty backyard paint jobs. I had the benefit of seeing them in person AND then seeing them on TV. That was eye opening for sure and reinforces the point that buying sight unseen is insanity.
Dumb luck will probably get you a good one every once in a while. I sold two cars in the past few years and on both occassions the first time the new owners drove the cars was after they owned them. Those are two of the luckiest guys and each got amazing cars but didn’t even know it.

I bought a Cadillac out of Hawaii unseen. I got a good vibe from the owner, and the car came exactly as advertised, not a single undeclared issue. It's always a risk, but it doesn't always end badly.
