Default Question about Ventilated Seats ?

I am a new A8 owner with no exp. with ventilated seats. However this past week I drove my car to Miami and was using the option for the first time.

It seemed as though only the rear most part of the seat bottom and the lowest part of the seat back were cooler then the rest of the seat ?

I assumed that since the entire seat has perforated leather that the entire seat was vented?

Are my seats malfunctioning or is this normal operation?

THANKS

Default Normal Operation.

My wife's Saab's ventilated seats feel like you have a fan blowing on you. The Audi is more of a ventilation than a blower of cold air.

Default but its only ventilating in small portions of the seat and not the...

entire perforated portion of the seat.

I can only feel the seat getting cooler on the lower back and the *** part of the seat and the leg and upper back portions remain the same?

That is the way my seat feels, no air movement that I can detect...I think it has a cooling pad under the leather, and if you turn the fan up higher the pad just gets cooler...I posted that I thought it overpriced...Tony

Default The system is designed to move air through the seat, not cool it per se...

...it blows just enough air to take the edge off of a hot seat.

It worked but it was not what I expected when I still had my 2004 A8.

Keep in mind that the A8's climate control system is designed to not have large drafts of air (unless you override with the defrost button). In any normal mode where the dash vents are open, manually put the fan to the highest setting (12 I think) and you still will not feel a suge of air like you do in other vehicles at the highest fan setting. The vehicle's air temperature will change properly, just without a major draft of air.

In the Las Vegas summer heat, I keep the seat ventilation on #5, with the temperature setting at 75 and outdoor temp at 100, I do not stick to the leather seat when wearing shorts nor do I sweat with regular pants & cotton shirts. With the seat ventilation set to off, I do notice a difference. It is the whole seat for me so I don't know, maybe you have a problem. Does the passenger seat behave the same way? Maybe it is better which would isolate the problem to the seat so it can be repaired.

It's worse when I'm in the Southeast US in the humidity. Remember, in Las Vegas it's a DRY heat-LOL!

Default yes this is what I am experiencing....

it seems that there really isnt any ventilation it seem like the two pad of the seat are colder then the other pads.

I guess I wont get a better indication till it gets warmer here in Upstate NY !

I still have to bring it in because the driver seat has a metal rod poking me in the back when I inflate the lumbar.
