RS4 V8 with FSI 412 hp. W12 with FSI, 600 hp? Sound feasible?

RS4 motor relies on revs to produce its power. The limiter comes in at 8250rpm. This engine has one of the highest mean piston speeds of any production engine.
The W12 motor just doesnt lend itself to this sort of revs.
Bentley are about to launch a revised 600ps version of the twin turbo motor.

As jim stated...the piston speeds are too high to do that with a n/a 6.0
The car is going to be short lived any way. I was told not to expect the W12 after '06 but the final decision has yet to be made.

Every A8 sold in the US is a loss for Audi due to the exchange rate...
and would be done solely based on sales here it was originally to be 350 cars for the US then lowered to 250 of which 90% were presold (though it was required all be presold). 2006 will be between 150 and 250 units.

so a combination of low sales and no margins...but then again, low sales mean less losses to maintain the marquis- which has a lot of non-$ value. A shame if that's the case. That will leave the W12 Phaeton uncontested!!! :>

RS 4 4.2L V8 with FSI produces 420 hp, not 412 hp.
6L FSI W12 will most likely produce 570 hp. But I wouldn't rule out 600 hp, though. Torque produced by the 6L FSI W12 will most likely be 465 lbs/ft so that there is a sufficient gap between the A8/A8L W12 and S8 with that cars 5.5L FSI V10 producing 550 hp and 413 lbs/ft of torque.

So the A8/A8L W12 will be discontinued for MY2007
Is this worldwide or North America only? If the W12 is discontinued, will the features exclusive to the W12 (full leather interior, choice of four place or five place seating with full power adjustments and ventilation for front and outboard rear seats, extended aluminum, dual rear seat entertainment system with DVD, to name a few) outside of Audi Exclusive become regular options (but NOT standard equipment due to cost and the fact that not everyone will want these features) on all lesser A8/A8Ls including the S8? I sure as hell hope so as this would make the A8/A8L/S8 far more competitive with the BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S Class and other flagship luxury sedans.
