Sirius Tuner problems. Anyone else?

Sirius Tuner problems. Anyone else?
I just got the tuner installed and found that the sound quality is worse than FM radio. The signal comes in clear but everything sounds a bit tinny, almost as if they're playing the music thru a tube. Does anyone else feel that the sound quality is inferior to radio? Is it how all Sirius tuners sound? Is XM any different?

Im happy with the way Sirius comes through in my car. Ive heard
XM as well and the difference, if there is any, is imperceivable. Have your dealer listen and maybe compare it to what you/they hear in another "Siriusly" equipped A8.

There was a very old thread about this problem...
After doing a quick search on old threads, there is a "line out" adjustment that needs to be made to the receiver. It's in the trunk on driver's side in side panel.
But this issue was with an XM installation and not sure if Sirius would have the same adjustment.

Excellent reception unless you go under a bridge or ..
through a tunnel. Then the system drops out temporarily.
I believe that these digital systems try to maximize the use of available bandwidth by using variable bit rates and reduce bit rate for speach. Listen to a news channel and these can sound decidely tinny. The music channels though are crystal clear and, IMHO, far superior to FM.
Dealer coming up I suspect!

FM sound quality is highly dependent on the station, but does have the potential to sound better than Sirius or XM. Unfortunately, most pop/rock stations compress all the dynamics out of their feeds to make the average volume louder, and thus make their station more noticeable or at least as noticeable as their competitors on the dial. I forget the maximum bit rate for the Sat radio services, but it's not that high.

I agree that I only notice it with talk radio. Music seems to be crystal clear.
The AM station I listen to "Mike & Mike" (ESPN) in the morning on is better than the XM quality of the talk sound. But the music is peachy keen.
