tires match?
When I bought my D3, it had Pirrelli cinteruado, P7 all season plus on all four corners. Two were in very good shape, two were worn. Instead of buying 4 new, I only bought two new of the same tire. That was 22,000 miles ago. Now I have the same situation (two good, two worn. I've not been completely happy with these tires but again, not wanting to buy 4. The tires I loved the most over the last three A8s were Continental Xtreme contact. I was hoping to get through this winter
I could buy 4 continentals now with hope of selling two pirelli's but I wouldn't get much for them unless, someone was in the same situation as me.
I found two used Pirelli P- zeros with the same tread depth as my good pair. Would it be a problem to have the cinterados on front and P-zeros on rear or vice versa?

While not quite the same situation, this is what I wrote in response to another very recent (like yesterday) thread someone posted:
I’m no expert—hardly—but “safe?”, most likely yes. Ideal? Personally I wouldn’t since different brands and different models [can] have vastly different characteristics. Personally I run Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06’s on all my vehicles and find no need to swap out of them at all. Needless to say I’m a big fan (and wasn’t too hot on the Pirelli P ZERO which came OEM on my Jaguar F-Type.)
I just wouldn't scrimp on something as vitally important as tires.
Just my 2-cents.
So while I doubt that you would experience any great “problems” with different tires, from the same brand, it’s not something I would relish and especially since you love Continental....

I will always remember an adage told to me years ago by a trusted mechanic: The two most important functions/capabilities of a motor vehicle are steering and stopping---and your tires greatly impact both at all times. If there's one area not to scrimp, it's tires.
