warranty question
I left my "05 LWB w/ 47,000 mi. at the dealership because of a molar-penetrating grinding sound which I suspected was brakes. Turns out it needs rear brakes & rotors. Since my manuals are in the vehicle which is spending the weekend at the dealership due to the fact that there were no parts in Alaska I ask whether a brake inspection is part of the recently performed 45,000 mi. service. . . What's the least i should expect? If a tech had noticed the thin brakes earlier I suspect they would not be ordering calipers. We are leaving for Denali this weekend (3.5 hours) in the Jetta they grandiously loaned me.Should i expect more? Thanks in advance for advice.

Re: warranty question
I would think that brake inspection and deviances to spec. is supposed to occur at that service level and should be "reported" on your service ticket that you should have a copy of. I'm sure they can weasel out of any issue related to brakes and wear, ie..like saying "are you sure you didn't ridd with your foot on the brake pedal recently" or "did you do alot of high elevation trips lately".

I'm with D3, I doubt you will be able to make a claim stick. However, did no ...
break wear warning light come on? The pads should have sensors that detect the end of the useful life and these should come on before damage occurs. Didn't see anything - didn't look? What happened?
Also, you state you need pads and rotors and then later you need calipers as well. This is a heck of a brake replacement. Are you certain you need everything stated and not just the pads?

Sorry Geordie, no caliper just (just!) pads & rotors. Are there, in fact, sensors?
