Even though it's only done about 2000 miles so far, MTM still managed 416hp and 849 NM (626 ft/lbs) of torque (up from 363 hp and 758 NM (559ft/lbs)). They said by 10,000 miles the real benefit would be realised, hence the torque figure for "before" was lower than the 800 NM advertised in the manual.

It goes REALLY quickly once the turbos have engaged and I still have the economy.

Thanks to MTM in Germany, as they had to rewrite their software on the day because Audi had changed some version in the car from (and to quote) "version 7.something to version 9.something, which nobody has seen before".

re trunk hinges
My automatically opening and closing version on my new A8 has the two tubes instead of A6 like multihinges.
they are placed as far back as possible though and look perfectly ok to me. in fact they lift the trunk cover very nicely a bit higher and out of the way.

Yeah - I am probably hung up on the complexity of the multihinge rather than admittign the functionality of the two tubes amkes it OK. Thanks for the feedback

Default Old trunk closed rather slowly! (on my '06)

I would be quite happy if they improved the close-time. My friend's S550 closes much quicker and in bad weather that is a plus.

Closing time seems ok but it is a bit slow to open. it hesitates a little at first when opening.

Those who go for automatic open only may get a faster opening if it is a traditional spring release instead of pneumatics?? But I wouldnt sacrifice convenience of automatic closing because of that!

Don't worry, the trunk door is just fine.
and it has a umbrella holder for those rainy days so no worries

maybe we should post opening and closing times here from our difrent cars?
I will time mine later..

ok so I will start:
A8 D4 NWB electrically opening/closeing trunk about 4.6sec from press of trunk handle to fully open
and 4.4sec from press of close button inside trunk door to lid being shut.

Who has the fastest trunk?

thanks Emauss.

So around 4.5 sec on A8 D4 and around 8 sec on A8 D3 to open/close electric trunk. possibly the new crude tubes are faster than old hinge complex..
