1992 100CS Engine swap
Hey there. I have a 1992 100CS FWD with engine AAH.
Heads are shot and would like to swap the engine.
My question is?
Will any 2.8 engine work? (92-94 100 and/or 95-96 A6)
Or does it have to be only the same engine code and from a 92-94 vehicle.
Thanks.

So a straight up swap from a 95 to my 92 should be possible with no mods?
I can possible get a sweet deal on a 95 A6 engine but want to make sure I dont buy it before I know its compatible.
Thanks for the reply.

If it was me..I would get the 95 engine and install it...straight swap although the exhaust manifolds might be different..worth checking..you may need to swap them over from your old engine.

Ok, so a straight swap can be made. Only thing I woukd need from my old engine would be the exhaust manifolds.
Those are also a sraight swap? ( AAH to AFC manifold dwap)
What about anything else I need to ne concerned about?? Any emissions components that would need to be swaped and or replace because if they not being compatible? ECU issues and/or concerns? O2 sensor, etc.....?
Sorry for the questions, but I dont want to buy an engine that wont be of use to me.
Thank you very much for your help.
Thanks!!

Exhaust manifolds would be a direct swap..if you need to do so.
The big changes between the AAH and AFC engines were the internals, valve train and oiling system. See the link: 12v Pages - The Engine - Identification
