Looking for working Audi Gamma Radio
Does anyone have a working Gamma radio with the 4 digit "safe code" that they would be willing to sell me? Offering up to $20 plus shipping costs. I have gone through 2 so far on a 92 100S. I have considered upgrading the entire system but not really worth it. Right now it's connected to an Alpine changer in the glove comp. that works great. However, it is baffling to me why they (Audi engineers) did not design the radio to turn off with the ignition. It seems that because of the design the switch wears out that turns the radio off and on and adjusts the volume. Perhaps it is possible to tear open the radio itself and replace the potentiometer???

Re:
Yes you can repair/replace the **** assy, but check E-bay. There's always a few for sale on there, and I don't think the repair bill wil be worth the cost compared to a good used one.

I need a working Audi Gamma Radio
I also need a working gamma radio. The volume control on mine is going bad. I can increase the volume but it turns off when I decrease it.
If you have one for sale, please let me know. Thx!

Re: Looking for working Audi Gamma Radio
I got this from another thread that was posted by another person.
You need to try to clean the volume control. I was able to clean mine, and it worked good. If you want your radio shut off when you turn off the car, you have to rewire the radio inside. It is easy, but I don't remember witch wire I changed. Try to find the +12v accessory wire in the radio connector. ( power only in accessory and run position)If you connect that wire to the switch on the volume control, it will shut off with the ignition off. You still need the constant +12v for your radio. If you disconnect the constant +12v, you need the code no to restart the radio.
