Smoking car

My car started to smoke a bit rescently. I had the car serviced, and the smoke is barely visible now, but still there. I had them give me a quote of what is wrong, they say it is the first signes of worn valve stem seals. He says it is a waste of money to do it now because it is not a cause of worry, it is still too early, but I disagree. The car is going to be fixed the end of this month. She still doesn't use oil out of specs 500ml per 1000KM

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p15/Cordoosie/Picture014.jpg</a

If it were me, I'd wait until the next time I changed the timing belt.
It looks to me like the cams and the timing belt have to come off in order to access the valve guide/stem seals.
If that's truly what your problem is then I agree with your mechanic. A compression check (wet and dry) would tell you a lot more about the potential problems you're developing.
What year car and how many miles on it?

get the cam shafts resealed.
my car smokes a little ( not enough to notice unless you really look) and it smells after like 2-3 hours of driving. My camshafts are leaking along with a few other oil related things. going to get it done when the timing belt is done.

1993 100CS 200000 miles, The Cambelt and the fan belt had been changed 2 services ago, I don't know if he did a wet compression check but the dry one he did.

Hi my cam seals luckily doesn't leak. You say that your car smells after 2-3 hours of driving, mine doesn't you only get the sweet smell of burnt fuel, that's all. I also have to really loook at the exhaust to see any smoke. I ask my dad to start the car, then I see it smokes, only for a second or so that's all. Not even under hard throttle..
