Thank you kind sir!
It just so happens I am in the midst of this job right now. I replaced half of the hoses but had to wait for the rest to be shipped to me (I ordered the special cloth ones). I will find this false air leak yet!! Thanks again. :-)

Personally I wish
Personally I wish you wrote the repair manuals instead of Bentley, your more straight forward and easier to understand with your labeled photos. I think a half broken down old body man could successfully do the repair after reading your how-to. THANK YOU ~ John Buchtenkirch

Re: Well now I'm all a blush
The difference is your a hands on guy that actually gets his hands dirty & cut where the people that write manuals often make me wonder if they could even change a flat tire. Very rarely do the manuals offer any shortcuts on how to do stuff, the order of part removal, or even what direction to remove parts in (for example do you remove a Quantum/Audi 4K steering rack thru the top or thru the tie rod hole in the skirt ? it can be done both ways). Hands on insight is nearly priceless when it comes to actually doing a job. Thanks ~ John Buchtenkirch

I miss the days of the good quality Haynes and Chiltons.
I've got Haynes manuals, as well as Chiltons and Clymer's for some of my other vehicles. They are exactly as you describe.....plenty of hands on photos, and step-by-step sequences to lead you down the path of ritousness.
The problem (as I see it) now-a-days, is that the cars are so complex, they are out of the scope of what's possible for these long time manual making companies to handle.
Meanwhile, Bentley has long since been making manuals for the factories, and so they are cursory at best because it is expected that the tech using them is just that.......a factory trained tech with years of experience. Really makes working on modern cars very tough for 95% of the DIYers out there, including myself (I never trained on Audi's at all).
That's why I try to throw down some old school write-ups when I have a chance. I've learned so much here from others, and I'm glad to be able to give something back from time to time.
