Default Restart problem on my 83' 4000S

Hey guys I have a 1983 4000s (mechanical FI) that is having problems restarting after it has been run for any length of time. Overall it runs great once it gets going.

I starts up just fine when it's cold but if you shut it off even after a very minutes it is tough to get started again. It will crank and almost ctach but then sputters and dies. Eventually it will start up again after three or four tries.

I've put need plugs, distributor cap and rotor in it and the wires are almost brand new.

Any thoughts on what might be causing my problem?

Thanks. It could be it is sticking after the initial start when cold. Short of replacing it is there a way to fix this by cleaning?

I'll check that. The accumulater on it is only a year old so I hope that isn't it. Thanks.

I have run my Coupe's with the cold start valve disconnected. Try starting the car and let it run for a bit. Then disconnect the cold start vavle and try to start it again!

Exactly, once warmed up, just unplug and see how she does...

Default Try turning the ingition on and off a coupl of times to cycle the fuel pump then try to start.

if this happens you may have a leaky start injector, cycling the ingition run the fule pump timer relay and builds pressure in the system. You may also look to see if there are any cracks in the intake boots between the CSI reg and throttle valve.

Default Yee haw! That was it...

Yep it was the cold start valve. Turns out one of the wires under the rubber boot on the Cold Start Valve connector was broken. Couldn't see it until the boot slipped off as I unplugged the connector. I just fixed the break and it starts up fine now.

Many thanks to all you for your help!
