Check Engine light on '89 200 TQ
Hey all!
I was going to try the fuse-in-the-fuel-pump-relay trick to extract trouble codes from my car until I noticed I didn't have any Check Engine light lit on my dash. Bulb out maybe??
Is it in the center under the digital computer display or far right of the dash above the ancillary gauges?
Thanks,
Steve

Sounds like you have a weird one like my Avant. You need to connect a test light to the ECU connector. Pins 35 and 31 IIRC. I think pin 35 is +12V and pin 31 grounds out to blink the light. It isn't too hard to do it. It just takes a little time.

Mine didn't have the bulb...
There was a spot on the dash for it (on the right, not in the center cluster of warning lights) but no bulb... odd. Plugged in a bulb and happily started blinkin' out the codes. Seems like there was a rolling assembly change through the '89 year? Some had it, some didn't? CA-car vs. 49 state? Or? Relatively easy to pull the IC and check... And easier down-the-road than having to plug into the diagnostic port, I think.
