eating alternaotr belts? replacement pulley?
My 86 5000S inhales alternator belts and spits them out in little peices.
There is some rust on the flwheel pully but no morathan on the other pulleys on which the pbets are just fine.
The alt pulley spins smoothly with just a slight wobble but it appears to be worn down on one side.
I'd love to replace just the pulley but i can't find a source.
I'm also concernced about ordering a new alt and getting the wrong pulley. I see photos on line showing a normal height pully (like i have) and one with an atached shaft that sticks out an extra inch or so.
This is a stock 86 5000S, non turbo, non-quatro

How is the tension in the belt ? Does it make noise ? I had a fairly similar issue almost a year ago, see my post from Jan 21. In my case, I could not get enough tension in the belt, and that's what made all the noise and it ate about three belts.
