discovered a very noticable hiss coming from the driver side of the engine. Seems to be coming from one of the injectors. Is the injector likely dead? The engine has been idling funny lately.

Pull the wire harness form that injector you suspect and see if the sound changes, idle smooths...

no oil leaks. You ruled out a bad injector?

Spark plugs are tight.

Usually a problem with an injector will go away or get better when the harness is taken off.

the base of the suspected injector.....use carb cleaner with a straw...

if the idle changes, you have a leaking injector seal...

My 90 used to make a hiss like that, it was from the rubber tube that comes out of the ISV and goes to the intake, it always sounded like it was coming from the other side of the motor for some reason though. Anyways, if its not that there are plenty of other hoses that hiss if they have a small leak.
