There is a leak on this thing .. i believe this is the oil cooler??

Default There is a leak on this thing .. i believe this is the oil cooler??

Default I had a similar problem...I know oil was dripping off of that..

shop said it was a gasket issue...but my case may have been different.

Default That's the lowest point, could also be...

...head gaskets - common on the 2.8. Also check the crank position sensor on the side of the block just behine the cooler; mine had a leak there.

Which gasket, oil cooler or gasket somewher else?

Did you get yours replaced? Or should I worry about it too much or just top oil when needed. It's just a little annoying to see those wet spots tdown there...

Man, that looks just like an oil cooler on a 2.1L wasserboxer engine in a Vanagon. I bet they are both VW parts.. hmmmmm... if that's the case, there's an o-ring inside that likes to give or the nut inside works loose (no, not you!). Take off the oil filter and look inside. Tighten the nut and see if that helps. You want to consider taking it off to inspect the o-ring and perhaps replace it.
