Default What is the trick to get the ball joint out of the hub...

on my 93 90S? My car is a little different from the one in the tech section. There is a vertical lin behind the hub. I removed that, then removed the thumb bolt. the ball joint is stuck in there as firm as ever... I had them replaced a few months ago. How do I get it out (To avoid needing an alignment)? This is for a CV replacement. Thanks everyone, you've all been a big help!

Tried prying open the clamp to the thumb- didn't work.

Will a ball joint fork destroy the joint?

Have you removed the control arms from the sub frame? If so you dont need to remove the ball joint. Just remove the strut link and you should have enough play to remove the axle. Yes you will probably destroy the ball joint if you use a pigs foot separator.

Default figured another way...

remove the two bolts at the top of the hub, manipulate the CV out, and put one back thru its hole. Thanks for everything!

Yep. Well, just the boot, but the dirt will do the rest.

Default You may have changed the camber.

I'd watch for tire wear.

I usually use a bar to pry down on the control arm with steady pressure, then tap the control arm downward with a hammer.
