Default Are Audi factory warranties transferrable?

I'm looking at purchasing a used 2015 A3 2.0T Quattro (14,000 miles on it). I would be purchasing it from a Ford dealership.

Will the original factory warranty transfer to me for the balance of its life?

I know that the warranty will transfer from private owner to private owner, it is less clear if it would transfer in my situation (a non-Audi dealer selling it to me).

thanks,
ken

Assume you will get balance of 4 yr Audi warranty.

Big advantage buying CPO Audi from Audi dealer. About a month ago I bought a CPO 2015 A3 Cab from local Audi dealer. I received another 2 yrs of warranty plus the balance of original warranty--TOTAL almost 5 yrs of factory warranty PLUS original owner had bought 4 yrs of AUDICARE which I inherited. So I have almost 3 yrs of maintenance prepaid. Great package!
If you are going to buy the car that you are looking at I would recommend factoring in these cost benefits when you negotiate.

Ken, welcome aboard !

Yeah, the warranty transfers to the next owner unless the car has been black flagged at some point.

I agree with Greasy and never purchase a used Audi without the CPO protection.

Welcome to the forum, Ken! +1 on what greasy and uberwgn said about warranty and CPO's cars from Audi. You pay a bit more for CPO. Audi parts and labour are not cheap. CPO gives you that peace of mind that you're covered.

Yeah, I wouldn't do it from a Ford dealer either... if you have an Audi dealership anywhere near you, go tell them what you want and see if they can source the car for you.

HOWEVER, if it's still under factory 4 yr, you might be able to extend it from Audi. Call AOA first before you buy and see.

Thanks for all the replies. I've been buying mostly BMWs, this is my first Audi, but I was impressed with the ride/power. The design is sweet too. Audi definitely has it all figured out right now.

A CPO warranty that extends the factory warranty can only be offered by an Audi dealer on a previously owned car. Third party extended warranties, although expensive, can be purchased by the owner. (Other than a CPO, Audi does not offer extended factory warranties. Audi dealers sell third party extended warranties, often from Fidelity).

While not common, there is a workaround to add a CPO to a used Audi purchased from other than an Audi dealer (the car must have less than 50K miles). Some dealers may be willing buy the car from you and then resell it back as a CPO. I've read where the CPO cost is somewhere around $2500 plus a processing fee for the dealer.

My dealer told me their cost for the certified warranty is $1,800 for a 2015 A3, but who knows if that's accurate.

You can bet they will want to make a profit on the buy and resell in addition to their cost in processing time and personnel. They are not charitable organizations after all.
