Transmission Mount Insert Question
Hi,
I have a 2015 S5 (DSG transmission), and a 2014 SQ5. I’ve seen several people use a tans mount insert. What is the benefit to using it? Does it help with performance in any way?
Thanks,

It simply reduces the amount of movement when the transmission shifts. Theoretically the transfers more energy down the line. People report crisper shifting but personally, I'd do it in conjunction with the rear differential and subframe inserts. They'll make a noticeable difference as a package.
I don't know how you drive or if you do track days but the better your tires, the more difference these'll make. If it's a Sunday light cruiser, I'd say skip it.
I've installed all of them (transmission, subframe and the three differential bushings) and it does keep things tight. I went with the softer differential offerings, those that have polyurethane inserts as opposed to solid metal. For the subframe bushings, 034 Motorsports is the only one that makes them and they're solid. Got rid of a high speed side shimmy.
