I got that mirror from Amazon, stuck in onto the back window and took the car out for a test drive so I could see how the brake light and ACC work together. I have to say I was very amazed by how well the car could match the speed of traffic without activating the brake light. A few times it was able to decelerate 5 to 10 mph gradually without having to activate the light. It did come on when the car in front of me slowed down significantly though (as it should). Even if I set the cruise from 80 to 75 and then to 70, if I gave it a few seconds in between the car just slowed without activating the light.

A few have theorized Audi uses the regenerative braking to slow the car down, but I don't think that's always the case, as I was paying attention to the "battery" on the fuel consumption meter and it wasn't always activated when the car was slowing down. This makes me think the car actually applies the brakes slightly without turning on the brake light. This gives me confidence in using the system more as I know I won't look like I'm constantly riding on my brake while driving
