It might be possible for the LCI to get the 8 series style grills and instantly change my perspective of the car. I get it, they are trying to make the car stand out as a coupe but I find the 8 series to do just that and without having massive beaver teeth grills.

Yep, MB Tex is what the standard dashboard is in my AMG. It actually even comes in different varieties to match the actual leather quality in the car. Since my seats etc. are Nappa leather, the MB Tex is in matching Nappa look. Even touching it you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. My seats feel a little softer and smoother, but mostly because I've conditioned them with leather conditioner and sitting on it also wears in the leather. These synthetic leather materials have definitely come a long way. I guess there is still the smell of real leather that makes the interior feel more premium. I'm also a meat eater, and as long as we slaughter cows for food, we might as well use the hide. That's where I stand I guess.

New Lexus IS sedan is less offensive. Too Camry like for me but it does a better job than the new 4 series.

Oh, my, I had forgotten about those animal parks! Though I think more vinyl roofs were destroyed by sun, car washes, vandalism or, most destructive of all, manufacturing defects.

Yeah, I have zero nostalgia for that crap. None at all.

Oh, I like this...

Looks pretty aggressive and should look nicer in person. Another cool grille ruined by front license plates.
Nice to see they moved to a widescreen touch screen - in their case a touch screen is a massive upgrade compared to their atrocious old touchpad system. The most disappointing thing is the carry-over steering wheel, with apparently all plastic buttons and trim. The window switches are still all plastic. The "metal" interior trim is probably also fake as before. They're cheaper for a reason I guess...

I think we've all become desensitized with the Lexus IS grill over time. It does look less obnoxious but still massive and before you know it the entire front end of the car will be a massive grill with head lights built in. Other manufacturers are now following its lead it seems...

Since my nearest competent Audi sales person is 200 miles away and Hendrick BMW in Charleston really did a nice job on my wife’s Z4 purchase, this BWM will probably be the successor to my 2019 S5 (even though I’d love to drive the next generation S5). Even so, this BMW maybe the only design I’ve ever seen where the front grill design is enhanced by the addition of a license plate and bracket.
