Here is another question: when connected via these dongles, can you still accesses your phone via Bluetooth? In many cases I prefer using the Audi nav over CarPlay, but if I am connected to CarPlay, I cannot search my directory as the car drops phone’s BT connection as soon as it’s plugged to CarPlay cable.

you will have to deactivate CarPlay in order to resume with Bluetooth. You can use both at the same time. For example, if you choose phone from MMI, it will ask if you want to switch to CarPlay or Audi Bluetooth. You can do the same in Connection manager to switch around.

@stwus Do you have full car play functionality with the wireless dongle? Do you lose your hotspot only because the WiFi has to connect to the dongle? I assume other phones could still use the cars wireless hot spot then. Thinking about this. 2019 RS5 is perfect in every way except would LOVE WIRELESS CARPLAY

with the device, its pretty much identical to having wired carplay. really, the only main difference is occasional glitches (although I think it's radio interference with where i'm driving) and there is a maybe 1/4-1/2 delay for everything. ive had it for almost 2 months now and i'm pretty happy with it

ok I get it ....but how is this any different than plugging your phone in vs sliding it into this slot? Dumb idea.
