Default AIR BAG light on question. My AIR BAG lights been on for a while

and I was looking over in the A6 forum and noticed someone said they had shop clean the steering wheel air bag contacts? and it went away for now.

Anyone done this? Is it something DIY or will the AIR BAG go off?

Thanks

Default Have you read the codes? Do you know where the problem is?

Can be a bad contact, sensor, control module... and so on.

Default OC02ALLROAD: Without a vag.. you can't know...

Think of haow many airbags tha car has. Mine has 8? 10?...if the circuts, sensors, ignitors, etc. of ANY ONE of the airbags goes, then you get the same light. Think of it as the CEL of the airbag system.

Like a regular CEL, you need a VAG scan to narrow the choices of failing components.

I've been driving with the airbag light on for about a year or so. I learned from the VAG-Com that it is the ignitor for the driver's seat internal shoulder airbag.
