another oil change question.....actually a dilema.
I currently have about 3,700 miles on my allroad. I will be leaving on a trip at the end of August that will be about 1,500 miles each way. I should only have about 4,300 miles on the car just before leaving. I will be traveling to an area in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan near Escanaba where there is an Audi dealership. Unfortunately, they have never seen an allroad at that dealership. Should I have my first service at 4,300 miles and get the oil changed early or wait until I get to Escanaba with about 6,000 miles on the car and a dealership with no allroad experience?

The allroad has the
same engine as the S4/A6 2.7T. What I would do is check to see what else is due at the 5K service. If it's just oil/filter, I'll let them do it. Just keep an eye on the car so they don't send it for a joy ride.

Either way, doesn't make much difference...
I had mine done at 6k (not an allroad). If you're concerned about the turbos running on old oil get it done early, if not, whichever is convenient.
Unless you have any specific problems with your car that are unique to the allroad, where you have it serviced shouldn't make a difference. It is still basically a 2.7T Avant with a different suspension. Just check your oil after anyone changes it. Mine has been overfilled by 1/2 quart both times it has been changed (despite specifically warning against it the second time).
Good luck, have a fun trip.

5K service
The 5K service includes the following:
oil change, filter replacement, service reminder reset, wheel rotation, fluid levels check, auto-shift lock check, brake system check, if Manual transmission - check shift the clutch interlock. I was also going to have the "fuel sender" recall taken care of. My concern about having the work done in a place where there is a lack of familiarity with the allroad is regarding the suspension and the need to put it in "jack mode" whenever the car gets lifted in any fashion. My concern about having the oil changed early is due to earlier posts expressing concern over not allowing the rings to seat properly.

I would wait till 6K miles and a more
familiar dealership. FYI, the 2000 2.7T engines had a 8K 1st tune up schedule. Also I wouldn't go in early (in case you were considering this) so as to let the engine break-in properly. The 2.7Ts are a bit slower in that aspect.

I had mine changed at 3,800 miles, about 3 1/2 months after taking delivery. I also knew that I would soon be taking an extended trip, and in my case would be towing which of course puts added load on any engine.
According to my dealer the factory fills the car with Mobil 1 0W-30, and I stayed with the same formula for the first change. Despite all the claims to the contrary, I do not buy into the premise that clean oil (of the same type as the factory uses) can somehow be harmful. I've always used Mobil 1 (5W-30) in our '98 A4 2.8, and it has never burned any oil or caused me any problems. With the allroad I did have to add a half a quart at about 3000 miles, but I understand that it is normal for the 2.7T engine to consume some oil, at least initially.
I personally would have the car serviced just before you leave, and then you wouldn't have to worry about it during your trip.

If you drive normally it should be fine until 6,000 miles. If you drive hard or are hard on the engine (off road, towing, ect) change it before your trip at 4300 mi, for piece of mind. If your trip is all highway than 1,500 miles is nothing compared to if it was city driving. If you are still uncertain, your best bet is to change it as close to the 5k as you can, since you will have just finised the breakin period.
