check engine light blinks and goes out

Hi Peeps,

03 2.7t....68k miles started and got a blinking check engine light maybe 4 or 5 blinks then went out - all appears normal.

I dont have a VAG-Com yet...any ideas? Car does make that dentist drill sound when i start it and it is cold...was pretty loud today

in most cases a blinking cel is a misfire.
bad coil pack, spark plugs, plug wires, gas are possible causes of that.

the other noise you describe sounds like the sas pump.

there is a recall on all the coilpacks. just go to the dealer --slowly or tow in--and have them all replaced for free.

In some cases the loud 'dentist drill' noise can mean the starter is going or lube inside is dry. Mostly occuring when its cold out!

Is it the check engine light or oil light? Do you leave oil marks in your parking spots?

If it is an audible beep and happens shortly after you start the car, you might be looking at an oil sendinging unit.
