Default Cunningham Motors offerings

In Kansas City for a few days to visit my mother and saw this ad in the KC Star today: New 2001 allroad MSRP $46,295, $499/mo (39 mo. closed-end leases thru Audi Financial Services with approved credit. 10K mi/yr. Total of 32,500 miles, 10% cap cost reduction thru cash or trade plus first pymt, plus acq. fee and security deposit (unless previously noted) insurance, taxes and registration due on delivery.) ** all 2002 Audi models qualify for special 1.9% financing with approved credit

That sounds okay. Would be concerned with 10k miles per year, but I'm sure the miles can be negotiated to an acceptable amount. 10% cap reduction would mean having to pay $4,630 + fees which in-part defeats the purpose of leasing. I've been advised to put as little down on a lease as possible, preferably zero. The 1.9% financing applies to purchases and that is for 24 months. If you want to finance over 60 months I believe the rate is 4.9, still not bad.

1.9% on 2002 models is nice though.

Default Terrible price for 10k...with huge down payment and 1 year old car...

This is a lose, lose, lose proposition. Terrible deal.

Should be able to purchase an '01 at $2-3k under invoice (invoice not sticker).

2001 vehicles may still be NEW, but they are one year old and once purchased worth ~$10-12k less.

No way would I buy an '01 right now for any price greater than several thousand below invoice.

Remind these dealers that they are trying to sell the equivalent of NEW 1 year old USED cars...don't pay for their mistakes. Don't bail them out.
