Dual mass flywheel...
I know the dual mass flywheel purpose is to make first gear engagement smooth so you don't wake the family on long road trips.
I just removed my flywheel but as I was removing it, I noticed that the two halves will counter-rotate with each other almost a quarter turn, well maybe 1/8th turn. You guys know what I mean?
Which means that from a dead stop, you drop the clutch, you're standing still even with the clutch engaged for a split second until the slack in the dual mass set-up is taken up. Of course it's a lot quicker than that. I wonder what if I went with a single mass or even a lite weight flywheel. Just thinking out loud here.
I think it was audiholio or gigidy that got the RS4 flywheel and is having shuttering. I wonder if the RS4 flywheel is a single mass?
I opted not to go with an aftermarket flywheel because I don't want to give up my daily driveability, but man o man, that flywheel is every bit of 38lbs claimed weight.

My RS4 flywheel....
Problem is unique, It's not a shudder due to clutch design. It feels as if the face of the flywheel has a raised section.
My advice, stay the hell away from light weight FW. You will take some parasitic load away from the engine, but a 4400# car is gona make that LWFW chatter like crazy. The slak you speak of, miliseconds.
