Part # ID PLease...
Does anyone have an exploded view of the shifter assembly?
I need to replace the PIVOT BALL in my shifter.
This is the weak link to the entire mechanism as its a plastic/nylon ball with guide grooves.

I can pull up a diagram for you, but I might disagree about the ball being the weak link
I just had mine all apart after 103,000 miles. The ball & Socket were fine. I cleaned and re-lubed them as the original grease was all dry and dirty.
The weak link is the pivot point at the bottom of the shift linkage. The tolerances probably were not that good in the first place and over time the pivot point develops more play making the shifter feel sloppy (side to side movement when in gear, etc.)
I'm sure you have seen Toyguy's site where he describes the OEM vs. his modded shifter. You'll see what I mean.

I have the Toy Guy...SS
If you look at the design of the pivot ball... it has the grooves that position the shifter to its shift points. If the entry to the grooves or the pin that guides in the groove is worn, then the shifting can be come a bit vague.
This is what I am going through right now. The linkage is aligned correctly, everything is lubed, but there is a lot of wear on the ball area itself.

He doesn't like the plastic ball either, I think the weakest link is the linkage itself.
When allroader Casey was down to go for a ride in my allroad after stage 3 upgrade, I noticed how much better his allroad shifted. Mine shifts like that now that it has new linkage(which AWE installed). It must have been 1 of those things where I didn't notice how bad it got until the linkage was replaced. Mine sheered off, probably where the little arm that attaches linkage to opposite side of tranny hooks in, but don't know for sure.

Picked it up yesterday. I think Todd had it put back together the same day as my post. He said they
were dynoing it again, and wanted to drive it a couple of days. So far it drives good, I had the car stumble today when leaving for work, but I didn't let it idle at all, just started, and drove. I usually let it idle until the rpms drop below 1000, but I didn't get any surging(which is what drove me crazy) so I have my fingers crossed. : )

Can someone repost that diagram, I also need linkage parts and the local Audi shop won't help me out unless I take it to them to do the work. $125 an hour... no thanks.
Thanks in advance!
