Default Turbo removal question

I always wonder how on earth you remove the turbos from the allroad 2.7t. I just happen to view the instructions on the Bentley DVD and noticed that the instruction say "Remove Engine"

Is there another way...say transmission out or something. If true, what a bad design. Removing turbos from 1.8t is easy as 123.

I don't think transmission out is any easier than removing the engine. But yes, you have to remove the engine to remove the turbos.

Pretty much everything requires engine removal. Heads? Remove engine. Windshield washer fluid ran out? Remove engine to fill.

Default Thanks

I guess because the v is so wide. They really only care about making the car and sell it anyway.

For example, inserting the crankshaft lock pin when changing the timing belt is a real PITA. (doesn't matter what you remove...) and then the combi valve on the passenger side that has to be removed before you remove the valve cover.

I can imagine hearing the voice of someone at the end of a big board-room table saying, "it's easy for us...let them worry about that", shall we continue with the design please...
