we have one picture that just shows the car from the distance smoke was already kinda gone.
Was this actually smoke or could it have been steam?

I ask because I was just reading an article about how Teslas can cause steam to rise when using DCFC in cold weather.

100000% smoke smelled like crazy burning plastic. Really bad fire did not want to stand near it we did not either. Smelled horrible. Also I have an extensive background and have taken courses with osha classes and watched many videos of electrical fires and battery fires. For my engineering and drafting degrees. I also unfortunately have real world experience with electrical fires so I know what they sound like feel like and smell like.

audi said it’s def from battery the car is quarantined in the back lot with caution tape around it.

so I was able to get connected to ecu via obdlink mx+ and Car Scanner app, how ever app does not show bar graph of individual cells voltages, temps and state of charge despite thoss values being shown when I look all available pid readouts. so I sent email to developer to see why is this not being displayed on one of the dashboards like they show in the video.

I have no range problems.

I was able to calculate my battery deg from these numbers: 64% of battery has 50 kWh so full battery should be @ 78.125kWh, that looks like 8kWh deg from original 86kWh available? I am sure 55F battery temp does not help that number either.

it seems that all the battery cells are within 1% of each other (63-64%), cell voltage range is from 3.81V to 3.82V and min-max temp delta between cells is 1.8F. to me that looks like healthy battery?

here are some screenshots from the app:

previous 2 charts are the ones not working as they should look like the one below:

I had the same issue with the bar graphs not displaying. I ended up buying the pro version to get around the 2 sensors at a time limitation.

How long after driving/charging did you get your numbers? Were 31-40 your hottest sensors?

I did buy pro version but bar charts are still not displaying, did you have to do anything else to get them working?

car was charged night before to 80% and was on short drive 30 min before I took measurements in my garage which stays @ around 50-60F in the winter.

so I just got back from 40 minute road trip. This is what the readouts look like this time there’s more temperature variation between the cells.

so after playing around with bar charts settings ( had to manually select all the sensors I want shown) I was able to display all cell temps and SOC, cell voltage is not being red in correctly - all show 0.02V.

charged car last night to 77% and here is what the battery cell stats look like:

Thanks for sharing your data. For the ignorant like me, it appears that all is well with each of your cells?

I’ve been going back and forth on what to do and I’ve decided for the time being to do nothing. I’ll keep charging to 80% (which is my normal behavior) and await official notification from Audi about next steps. Meanwhile, I hope that they perhaps plan to economically incentivize us to trade up to a new Audi eTron as in my case I was planning to do so anyway later in 2024 or 2025 (as mine is a MY 2019). I do really love this car. Even the “limited” range has no impact on me because I never drive more than 100 - 150 miles in one day.

Thanks for posting your battery info, very helpful!

You're using this OBD adapter right? https://www.scantool.net/obdlink-mxp/
I'm asking because the specifications say it is not supported for EVs, and there is another thread on this forum where someone was unable to get this adapter to work with the etron. I'd like to get an OBD reader myself for my etron, so I am looking for one that will work.

yes obdlink mx+ and Car Scanner app with audi etron 55 connection profile. it works

I suggest most people should buy obd dongle and this app just to monitor the battery and catch battery issues early on before they end up in burned house...especially folks who are experiencing reduced/drops in normal range..
