40 hours of driving and we didn’t see a single Q8 on the entire trip. Roll up to a mall because there is a Chick-Fil-A in the food court, and there is an RSQ8 right where we want to park. Definitely prefer the look of the RS grille, and I’m glad we went with Waitomo Blue though both look great.
Got back from the 10,000km trip and not a lot to add to what we found on the first third of the drive. This car is sublime at 80-90mph...power, comfort and handling are all amazing on the interstate. Cabin noise is stellar on nice pavement, deafening on poor pavement, wind rush/noise is very good at all speeds though, nice and quiet. Fuel economy was usually between 11.5 to 12.5 litres per 100 km, checked at the pump. The onboard economy calculator is pretty optimistic, reading about .5-1 l/100 higher than actual.
Had a half dozen or more random warnings pop up at various times, although they all cleared either on their own or after being shut off for a few minutes. Didn't keep records, but I recall an ACC , front/rear sensor, drive system, lane change & cross traffic assist failures, along with a few others. No ill effects that we've seen, and nothing has reappeared (yet).
Rolled across a scale close to home, and loaded up the Q8 is a bit of a porkchop...2.63t / 5800 lbs. Granted we had a fair bit o luggage, but this might explain the poorish fuel economy. That or the high velocity on the highway? I'm going to blame the luggage. :-)
The sound system is not as good as on the old Q7. No amount of messing around with the settings seems to make it better, just different. Totally subjective, and maybe we're misremembering, but it just seems ...less... than the prior car. Basic stock systems in both cars.
Can't think of anything else off the top of my head, overall another great experience.
