Hi guys , new here , just picked up a 4.2 and wanted to do an oil change, can someone recommend oil brand and weight I should be using , thanks.

Have you checked you Owner's Manual for the oil recommendation? If you are in the USA, some of the cars got a Castrol 10W60 while others used the pedestrian VAG spec 502.00.


Does the car have a dry sump?

Be sure to follow the service manual procedure. These dry sump engines require more than a drain plug or two and filter replacement. Quite a bit more. There is a youtube video but the manual is mandatory for your exact model & engine.
