Default If a wire input to the sub came loose - would what cause the amp to go into protection mode?

I was trying to diagnose my problem today (see lower post) when i found one of the wires going into the terminal cup was just barely in there and about to fall out. If this wire were to come out would that cause the amp to go into protection mode?

thanks,
matt

Yes. Most amps work in the range between 2 - 8 ohms, a connection that came off would equal 0 ohms.

Default a connection that came off would be INFINITY ohms wouldn't it? (more)

if the wire pulled out and isn't touching anything you're ok. (you'll get no sound of course)

if the wire came off and is touching something you'll have problems.
