Just bought Mothers California Gold Clay Bar Paint Saving Sys. Any good?
I bought it, thinking oh cool. I can finally try clay barring. I picked it up at a local autozone. And the picture looked nice like a real bar. But when i opened up the package. The clay bar piece is really frikken small, like a little elementary school eraser. And Soft too. Can anyone recommend me a REAL MAn's clay bar. The best? or give me a review of the mothers.

no......
why risk any abrasion on a new car. use 3m wax/adhesive remover which is wipe on wipe off. i recall this is the factory recommendation for new car/dealer prep too.
while claying is very safe on brand new car the adhesive remover is less abrasive.
cheers

I clay ALL my new cars before applying the first coat of wax.
You will be AMAZED at the difference that it makes in the slickness in the paint surface.
Even a new car sits at the dock, on the lot, sometimes on a train, etc. They pick up a lot of contamination.
Follow the directions I have posted many times and there is ZERO risk of any kind of paint abrasion or damage.

not to nit pick but .....
any time any body with any product touches the surface there is SOME risk or abrasion or damage to paint.
only looking is zero risk....which leads to the antique shop/lap dance saying "look but don't touch".
that said why would any new car need claying unless a paint over spray happens in transit?
the audi factory guide for new car prep specifies a liquid wax/adhesiver remover. the 3m product is not without risk either but needs a much lighter touch than clay with the same results. only contaminants that have baked for months would not dissolve and need mechanical removal (clay)
i like and use clay products too but often go 1-2 years before using them while still keeping that mirror smooth finish...of course i use no power tools on personal rides either.

Who sells/where can I buy the 3M liquid wax/adhesive remover?
I looked on 3M's web site under Car Care and found an Adhesive and Tar Remover that only comes in a gallon can. Can you be more specific about the name of the product you've described?
TIA.
TIA.

the red can........
#08984 is the common size for 8-15$ and available at all auto paint supply stores and many auto supply stores.
picture of the can in the link...
the brown can is the same stuff just a smaller can....i've seen it at wallyworld.
always wear gloves when using.
there is also a newer product that is less volatile, not sure what the part #.
