Default ABS & Brake light flashing, won't communicate with scanner

2001 A4 Quattro I've had 3 different scanners put on it and kept getting Link Error.Tried using the reset prceedures, no luck. So I sent the ECU to be rebuilt at ECM. The tech says it bench tests good. So they're shipping it back no at charge. Module not supported? How can I tell?

Don't know. You first need to get a scan tool communicating with your buss. Have you used a VAG-COM (Ross-Tech); or taking it to a pro? Cheaper than throwing expensive parts at the problem.

I know this is a bit late for the OP but for others here's what I know. My son got a 99 A4 and my VAG COM would not scan the engine with the ABS warning on. Pull the ABS fuse and the engine will scan. The ABS control unit is bad. There are some tiny wires in the unit that fail from vibration over the years. Unless you have tools and experience with micro welding don't try to repair it yourself. A google search will return several people that can do the repair. I chose one of the cheapest (about $100) it was some guy in PA who does it from his home. Got it back in less than a week and no problems for over a year with the ABS.

Do you happen to still have the contact information for that guy?

I just got my brake module back from CheapAbs. All went great. They even had a video that shows you how to remove the module. Just not sure why it was shot in the dark:/. Very Happen and the ABS and Brake lights are out now.. PS, He's on vacation this week..
