Radar detector recomendations?

How deep would that be? I was limited to 160 km/hr yesterday
on the Claresholm cut off, Darned Hakka Q's are only Q rated.
Beat a Multanova ticket also, great days.
However, we now have 50 or so "Sheriff's" out here who's ONLY job is to nail speeders. Fortunately, so far they seem to be equipped only with Ka band radar and look like regular marked Mounties.
So, you have to use the two lane back roads to speed because the Sheriffs are heavily patrolling all the big money roads.
Four traps between Calgary and Lethbridge, that's one per 20 minutes at the speeds I was travelling.

Only one choice: Beltronics STi Driver
I have a Beltronics STi Driver. It's the only detector available that's completely invisible to the OPP's Spectre Mk3 RDDs. If you live in RD-banned areas (e.g., Ontario, Quebec, Virginia, Australia) the STi is the only RD to have.
Pretty good Ka, K band reception. Laser isn't as good as the latest V1s, but it's pretty useless anyway because most of the time a RD laser warning is just alerting you to your next ticket.
Laser jammers are prohibited and are your only real defense against laser. There seems to be a lot more laser enforcement as of late, including some on-ramp rear-laser traps that are unscrupulously sneaky.
There are a few pretty good laser jammers (e.g., AL8) but most still throw "jammed" error codes on certain model LTI guns, I believe, which will alert the cop to your equipment. Which means even more fines.
You can try to minimize frontal reflections with a plate cover of VEIL coating on the headlights.

Or the Passport, as Bel and the Passport are made by the same guys
Bel was bought out by what used to be and may still be Cincinnati Microwave, makers of Escort and Passport detectors. Since the radar v detector wars began these two companies were the industry leaders, one US one Canadian. Now their both a US concern. Valentine used to work for them and his much touted unit is no better than Bel or Passport unless you think the arrows are useful.
If you look at the Bel and the Passport side by side you'll see the external similarities immediately, at least the last series of detectors were pretty much identical. They still have different features and may use different software but the performance on the road is essentially equivalent.
Oh yes, and laser detection is virtually useless unless you are in traffic and exceptionally lucky. Keep those eyes peeled. Unlike radar the laser equipped cop has to see you and draw a bead on you or he can't nail you. If he gives you the ticket, you were his target because you can't laser speed check the wrong vehicle by mistake ( well unless you are a complete goof or dishonest). Conversely, if you are alert you should see the cop as he lines you up and if you brake hard you can beat that laser by slowing before the reading can be taken.

Ah, good to know, we don't worry about such things out here
It is perfectly legal to detect police radar here and in BC.
A friend of mine has a laser jammer setup also, and claims it works!

Laser isn't as acurate as people think. The light beam is still a cone and at 300 meters it's a...
1 meter in diatmeter. If you are in a group of cars it is totally possible to get an invalid reading. Rare but certainly not impossible.<ul><li><a href="http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question396.htm">http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question396.htm</a</li></ul>

Yer Honour, I wasn't clocked by Laser. I was clocked by Lidar and Lidar is not Laser.
The difference between Radar, Lidar and Laser is wavelength if I correctly understand expert sources.

The L in Lidar stands for Laser.....
Laser is the technology and the light beam is pretty darned narrow compared to the radar beam.
And the R in Radar (technically RADAR) doesn't stand for Radio.....

I'm afraid I'm right actually. Did you read the link I posted?
Here is another link that says it's a cone:<ul><li><a href="http://www.radarguns.com/laser-radar-lidar-facts.html">http://www.radarguns.com/laser-radar-lidar-facts.html</a</li></ul>
