And here is another link supporting what I said:
This one actually says 4 feet.
Tell that to your Judge friend.<ul><li><a href="http://www.policeone.com/writers/columnists/lom/articles/120325/">http://www.policeone.com/writers/columnists/lom/articles/120325/</a</li></ul>

Believe me I will, but, it is unlikely to work in my jurisdiction
reasonable doubt is the test not mere possibility of error. The error has to be reasonably plausible for the defence to work.
Nice try though. In the police officer's viewfinder there's a little red dot and as far as he's concerned that dot IS the laser beam.
Scientifically speaking, that dot is the laser beam for practical purposes. I realize the computer in the LIDAR gun has to assume the strongest reflected signal is from the target, as for radar, but the possibility that this assumption is wrong just isn't going to be accepted by high level courts based on the information I have.
But, if you hear of a court that accepts your notion as a realistic possibility for error make sure you publicize it, that would be fatal to LIDAR as far as I can tell.

Yer honour, I have other field studies that also support that Lidar light has a wide cone at 1,000
feet. Is it not possibe that the reading the police officer got was from the car in the other lane that was over-taking me?

LOL, DAMN RIGHT yer Honour. And the guy who blasted past me was in an S4
with Hakka Q's. As matter of fact, I happen to write down his license number. I got it here somewhere.
